We met while touring Europe in 1997. Since then, Pat and Phil came to America twice to visit us, first in 2002 and then again in 2010. In between, the four of us have toured the south of England together in 2008. Then in 2012 we flew to Adelaide and toured southeastern Australia and New Zealand with them. Now once again we come together, this time in Edinburgh, to do Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

William McGonagall
Luca took us into a cemetery that was flanked by the tea room where J. K. Rowling wrote the first of her Harry Potter novels and the George Hariot's School, the school that inspired her Dumbledore School. This grave stone provided her with a name for one of her characters. The real McGonagall had a reputation for being a very bad yet persistent poet. Earlier Luca had told stories of Scotland three most famous writers: Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson. Of particular interest was the story of the man, William Brodie, who inspired Stevenson's Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.
